Everyone who knows me well knows that I am an avid promoter of drinking filtered water. As much as I’d like to pretend that my reasoning is only due to the health benefits of doing so, it actually also has a lot to do with the taste for me. I DEFINITELY notice a difference in taste – even if nobody believes me and thinks I’m crazy for it – I’m telling you, it's true. Sink water is gnarly and I loathe it. So much so – that I’m literally convinced it doesn't even quench my thirst. (PS: my dramatic, exaggerative tendencies do not escape me)
(Yes, I realize I’m not living in Mexico where even brushing my teeth with tap water will have me out of commission for days, but that does not mean that tap water in general is still OK to drink.)
BUT – bright side to this quirk of mine is that it actually IS better for you. If you don’t believe me yet, read on…the proof is in the pudding.
I am also really anti-plastic a.k.a anti-BPA anything (which is another reason filtered, tap water is the way to go.) However, I am not perfect and more often than not I DO drink from plastic water bottles, out of convenience and necessity. But, when I am in the States where they do sell BPA-free bottles, I always opt for them. However, unfortunately I have not been able to find any yet here – so alternatively, I ordered a small, portable water filter off of amazon, which I’ve been using all semester (If you can’t find a Brita Filter here or something similar, then I would suggest ordering this or this Brita Fill&Go Water Filter Bottle). Learn more about dangers of BPA here.
